Rudy Giuliani says he’s willing to testify before Congress

President Trump’s personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani says he’s willing to testify in front of Congress as Democrats continue their impeachment inquiry of the beleaguered commander-in-chief.

“If (Trump) decides that he wants me to testify, of course I’ll testify,” Giuliani said Sunday.

But he took a dig at House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff (D-Cal.), whom he called “illegitimate.”

“He has already prejudged the case,” Giuliani said of Schiff. “If we want fairness here, we’ve got to put somebody in charge of that committee who has an open mind, not someone who wants to hang the president, who said I have evidence of Russian collusion.”

Trump in July asked Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky to work with Giuliani and Attorney General Bill Barr to get dirt on Biden, a phone conversation at the center of the impeachment inquiry announced Tuesday.

Schiff said Sunday his committee is still undecided about whether to call on Giuliani to testify.

“We certainly need to do a lot of work to find out what Giuliani has been doing in Ukraine,” the congressman said on NBC’s “Meet the Press.”

“So we are going to need to get to the bottom of it. Whether it will be productive to bring him in, we are going to make that decision down the road.”

Giuliani’s interview on ABC’s “This Week With George Stephanopolous” marked a more restrained appearance than public statements Giuliani gave last week, when he insisted he would be proven a “hero” amid fresh evidence of Trump’s efforts to use the power of American foreign policy to personal political advantage.

“It is impossible that the whistleblower is a hero and I’m not. And I will be the hero! These morons — when this is over, I will be the hero,” Giuliani claimed Thursday.
