A federal employee suspected of stealing more than $1 million worth of military equipment from Camp Mabry surrendered to federal authorities on Thursday, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.

Joseph Mora, 35, has been charged with theft of government property and conspiracy to commit fraud against the U.S., the Justice Department said. If convicted, he faces up to 10 years in prison for the theft charge, and 20 more for the fraud charge.

Justice officials said Mora worked as a program analyst for the U.S. Property and Fiscal Office warehouse at Camp Mabry since 2013.

During that time, officials allege, he swiped large amounts of military equipment, including rifle scopes, laser aiming devices and night vision goggles.

“He later sold many of the stolen items on eBay and by other means,” officials said.

Agents executed a search warrant at Mora’s residence on Tuesday and recovered a pallet of night vision goggles and boxes filled with aiming devices and tripods, the Justice Department said.

Mora was released from custody after posting a $10,000 bail, federal officials said.
