A mass stabbing has taken place in Tallahassee, Fla. at an industrial park on Wednesday morning, leaving at least six wounded and a suspect in custody.
Police identified the suspect as Dyke Industries employee Antwann D. Brown, as reported by CNN. They say Brown stabbed five people with a folding knife.
One victim is listed in “serious condition” while two are in “fair condition” and two are in “good condition,” according to an update from Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare hospital provided to CNN.
“At approximately 8:37 am on September 11, 2019, TPD responded to a stabbing near the 2000 block of Maryland Circle. Upon officer’s arrival, they discovered multiple stabbing victims and provided immediate medical attention,” said a statement from the Tallahassee Police Department.
“This case has been assigned to investigators with TPD’s Violent Crimes Unit. Investigators are asking anyone with information about this case to please call them at (850) 891-4200 or Crime Stoppers at (850) 574-TIPS,” the statement added.
TPD noted that the suspect is in police custody.
Multiple victims were injured in the attack.
It was initially reported that six victims were being treated with injuries from the incident. That number was later corrected to five.
The incident took place at Dyke Industries, a distributor of millwork and related products.
The suspect’s motive for the attack is not yet known.
