Here’s how Twitter users are reacting to Trump forgiving $750M in disabled veteran student loans

Critics of President Trump are saying that his executive order on Wednesday to discharge the student loan debt of permanently disabled veterans is not enough.

Americans took to social media to voice this disapproval of the order – which discharged $750 million worth of permanently disabled veterans’ student loan debt — for not doing enough, either for veterans or for the American public.

Extend the discharge for all veterans

Some users are calling for Trump to extend the student loan discharge to all veterans — disabled or not.

“Just because a veteran has all their limbs doesn’t mean that they are back to their normal selves… The #military does a really good job of brainwashing personnel in a way that would terrify most civilians,” one user said.

“Why not cancel student loan debt for ALL veterans?” one user simply asked.

One user suggested the next step should be to “cancel all credit card debt for permanent and total disabled veterans.”

Cancel all American student debt

Some users are calling for nationwide student loan debt forgiveness.

Democrat candidate for the 2020 presidential election, Sen. Bernie Sanders, renewed his call for nation-wide student debt forgiveness.

“It will take student borrowers 100 years to repay their debt for the “crime” of getting a higher education. That is insane. We have got to hit the reset button. We should cancel all student debt in this country and make Wall Street pay for it,” Sanders tweeted.

“If it is this easy to cancel student debt from hundreds of thousands of Americans why can’t it be eliminated for ALL Americans? #ElizabethWarren2020,” one user said.

“Cancel ALL student loan debt, ya stooge. Good job on at least supporting veterans in that regard, tho,” another user said.

“Now if only the govt would eliminate student loan debt for #ADOS as part of reparations,” one user said, a reference to the American Descendants of Slavery group.

One user suggested all student debt should be canceled and college should be free.

“If you truly supported veterans, you would cancel student debt for all vets. If you cared about America, you would cancel all student debt and give free college,” that user said.
