David Hogg announced Sunday he wishes to have his body laid before the doorstep of the National Rifle Association’s headquarters in Fairfax, Va. if he is ever assassinated.
In a series of tweets, Hogg said he wants his body photographed and publicized in the event of his assassination, and he also promoted the #MyLastShot campaign which others could use to similarly indicate they want their body photographed in the event they are killed in a shooting.

Hogg rose to publicity following the February 2018 school shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla. Hogg was one of the students who turned to advocacy and went on to co-found the anti-gun March for Our Lives organization.
March For Our Lives, an organization comprised of middle school and high school-aged participants, published a plan last week calling for various gun control measures including changing gun ownership standards with a national license and registry system, “a ban on assault weapons, high-capacity magazines, and other weapons of war,” and policies to disarm gun owners who are deemed a risk to themselves or others.
The plan also calls for declaring a national emergency on gun violence and implementing a buyback program to national firearms ownership by as much as 30 percent.
Among several other demands, the March For Our Lives plan also calls to “hold the gun lobby and industry accountable for decades of illegal behavior and misguided policies intended to shield only themselves” and requests a re-examination of the Supreme Court decision in the District of Columbia v. Heller.
“It’s a deeply intersectional issue, inextricably bound with our long journey for racial justice, economic justice, immigrant rights, and the rights of our LGBTQ allies,” the March For Our Lives plan says of its approach to handling gun violence. “And it’s amplified by the societal belief that a gun can solve our problems.”
The organization describes the plan for “the next president” who should declare a national emergency on guns during their first day in office and set a goal to reduce gun deaths by half in 10 years. The plan additionally calls for the establishment of a presidentially appointed Gun Violence Prevention Director.
Hogg’s tweets, which both promoted the March For Our Lives campaign plan and described his hopes of having his hypothetical death used to blame the NRA, received both support and criticism on Twitter.

Various Twitter users criticized Hogg’s tweets on Sunday, describing them as a call for attention by the 19-year-old political activist.

Other Twitter users co-opted the #MyLastShot to poke fun at the proposal of publicizing their dead body.
