‘Armed intruder’ reported at LSU campus, students warned ‘run, hide or fight’

Louisiana State University reported earlier that an “armed intruder” had threatened the campus.

UPDATE – 5:00 p.m. CST:  LSU confirmed that the threat is over and no danger was found.

LSU first tweeted at 2:54 p.m. CST, “LSUPD: Reported armed intruder in Coates Hall. Run, Hide or Fight. LSUPD on scene. Monitor http://LSU.edu for further information,” sending students in a panic.

At 4:31 p.m. CST, LSU confirmed that the incident was still active. “LSU Police is still investigating the ongoing situation. Continue to avoid the area or remain in a safe place,” they said.

No gunshots or injuries were reported while the incident was ongoing.

A heavy law enforcement presence amassed on campus.

Campus police and Baton Rouge Police Department officers both responded to the threat.

Red crime scene tape was seen surrounding Coates Hall.

Officials had not yet released details about the threat while the scene was ongoing.

One video from a Twitter user showed what was described as a classroom at LSU which was on lockdown.
