A New York City corrections captain is under fire after an anti-police tirade was posted to a Facebook account she allegedly shares with her husband.
The post appeared Tuesday night on the Facebook account “La Shonda Rashid Stanley,” an alleged shared account between New York City Department of Corrections (DOC) Captain La Shonda Stanley and her husband Rashid Stanley, New York Daily News reported on Wednesday.
“Y’ALL UPSET ABOUT SOME PIGS GETTING WATER THROWN ON THEM, THEY’RE LUCKY THEY DIDN’T GET SHOT WHILE MAKING AN ARREST!” the all-caps post said, referring to the viral videos showcasing New York Police Department (NYPD) officers who were doused with buckets of water by irate citizens.

“ALL THE INNOCENT BLACK MEN AND WOMEN KILLED AT THE HANDS OF THESE PIGS,” the post continued. “Y’ALL FORGOT ‘ERIC GARDNER’ [SIC] KILLER JUST GOT OFF WITH MURDER, ON CAMERA!” the post added, referring to Staten Island officer Daniel Pantaleo, whose charges in the 2014 death of Eric Garner were recently dropped by federal prosecutors.
“FOR THOSE SO CALLED GOOD COPS THAT WILL SAY ‘NOT ALL COPS ARE BAD’ … DEATH TO YOU SCUMBAGS ALSO, YOU STAND BY AND ALLOW YOUR FELLOW OFFICERS TO DO WRONG, YOU GUILTY AS WELL!” the post reads.
“F–K THE POLICE…. ITS TIME WE SHOOT BACK!!! COP KILLERS STAND UP!!!!”
The post is signed “MR. STANLEY” seeming to imply the post came from Rashid Stanley.
A law enforcement source told NY Daily News that La Shonda Stanley is “telling everyone it was her husband that did it, but it’s still an arrestable offense. She’s going to pay a high price for this. Everyone is on fire over this.”
“Oh, I didn’t make those comments,” La Shonda Stanley told the New York Post outside her Brooklyn home wearing blue pants that appeared to be part of a corrections uniform.
“Yeah, that’s my husband’s comment,” she added.
The post was not available to the public on Wednesday. It’s not clear whether the Stanleys deleted or hid the post, or if Facebook intervened.
Fellow DOC captain Raja Rathour posted on Facebook, “The recent post from a NYC Correction Captain La Shonda Rashid Stanley was not her views and her words written by her. I know this woman to be a pro law enforcement and a sweetheart of a woman. I spoke to her and this is not her doing. I will back her 100%”
A spokesperson with the Department of Corrections told NY Daily News that they were investigating the matter, but had no further comment.
The NYPD has since arrested three men – one of which is a Crips gang member — involved in the water drenching incidents in Harlem and Brownsville, the New York Post reported.
NYPD Chief of Department Terence Monahan tweeted Wednesday, “Actions like we’ve seen in videos recently will NEVER be tolerated in this city. YOU WILL BE ARRESTED.”
UPDATE: The 28-year-old man, a known gang member, who was wanted for dumping a bucket of water on our @NYPD73Pct cop in #Brooklyn has been arrested. Actions like we’ve seen in videos recently will NEVER be tolerated in this city. YOU WILL BE ARRESTED. pic.twitter.com/RXNGXa0KOo
