A hockey coach told his players in a locker room speech to respect the national anthem or “get the f*** out,” a video posted to Twitter shows.

In the video posted July 8, the unidentified coach said, “We’re not women’s soccer. We’re not the NFL. If there’s anybody here who is going to be disrespectful to either the American or the Canadian national anthem, grab your gear and get the [expletive] out now because you’ll never see the ice in this arena.”

“We don’t have that problem in hockey, we’re better than that, but there was no sense in wasting anybody’s time if that [expletive] was going to happen. I don’t believe it would happen here. We’re the most patriotic sport that they have out there, so keep that in mind. Thank you,” the coach concluded.

The video amassed tens of thousands of shares in two days. Many social media users appeared to support the coach’s sentiment.

The coach’s mention of women’s soccer and NFL are in reference to U.S. women’s national soccer team co-captain Megan Rapinoe who has been kneeling in protest of the national anthem in the same fashion of NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who took a knee in the 2016 season to protest against racism.

Prior to the women’s soccer team’s first World Cup match against Thailand on June 11, Rapinoe refused to participate in the national anthem and again took a knee, which she has been doing since 2016, The Epoch Times reported.

Rapinoe has not held back on her dislike for President Trump and even said publicly that she would not attend a White House visit if her team won. During a number of press conferences that took place during the World Cup series, Rapinoe reiterated on what she had previously said about not visiting the White House.

Trump said that Rapinoe shows disrespect for the country, the flag, and the White House.

“Women’s soccer player, mPinoe, just stated that she is ‘not going to the [expletive] White House if we win.’ Other than the NBA, which now refuses to call owners, owners (please explain that I just got Criminal Justice Reform passed, Black unemployment is at the lowest level in our Country’s history, and the poverty index is also best number EVER), leagues and teams love coming to the White House. I am a big fan of the American Team, and Women’s Soccer, but Megan should WIN first before she TALKS! Finish the job!” Trump said in a series of tweets on June 26.

“We haven’t yet invited Megan or the team, but I am now inviting the TEAM, win or lose. Megan should never disrespect our Country, the White House, or our Flag, especially since so much has been done for her & the team. Be proud of the Flag that you wear. The USA is doing GREAT!” Trump added.
