1 dead after helicopter crashes into building near Times Square, NYC

UPDATE, 2:48 p.m. EST: The FDNY has told the Associated Press that the pilot is dead after a helicopter crashed into a New York City skyscraper near Times Square on Monday afternoon.

New York authorities are on the scene after a helicopter crash-landed into a high-rise building near Times Square on Monday afternoon in New York City.

“HIGH RISE HELICOPTER CRASH INTO BUILDING,” the Fire Department of New York (FDNY) alerts Twitter account sent out, adding that the crash was at 787 7th Avenue, which is located between 51st and 52nd streets in Midtown, just north of Times Square.

“FDNY members are operating on scene at 787 7th Ave in Manhattan, helicopter crash landing,” the FDNY also tweeted.
