Democratic presidential candidate and senator Kamala Harris wants to get rid of gun licenses for gun dealers.

During an interview with Jake Tapper of CNN’s “State of the Union,” Harris vowed to use the executive power to remove licenses from gun dealers “who fail to follow the law,” if she becomes president.

Harris said, “Let me tell you what I’m proposing. I’m proposing, one, if by my 100th day in office when elected president of the United States, the United States Congress fails to put a bill on my desk to sign with all of the good ideas or any of the good ideas that I’m prepared to take executive action because that’s what’s needed.”

“For anyone who sells more than five guns a year, they will be required to perform background checks on the people they sell them to. This will be the most comprehensive background check policy that has ever been had in our country thus far,” Harris said.

“I’m also prepared to say and to direct the ATF to remove and take away the licenses of gun dealers who fail to follow the law. 90% of the guns that are associated with crime have been sold by 5% of the gun dealers. We need to take their licenses away,” she explained.

Harris said a good idea is needed to confront the gun safety issue, and there have been many good ideas for solutions over several decades. She lamented on Congress’ lack of “courage” in presenting their ideas,

“We’re not waiting for tragedies and great ideas. Universal background check? Good idea. You might want to know if someone has been proven to be a danger for themselves or others before they can buy a lethal weapon,” Harris added.

This isn’t the first time Harris has vowed to implement major gun changes through executive order.

Last month, Harris first announced her plans to invoke executive power against guns 100 days into her presidency if Congress fails to act, Politico reported.

“There are people in Washington, D.C., supposed leaders, who have failed to have the courage to reject a false choice which says you’re either in favor of the Second Amendment or you want to take everyone’s guns away,” Harris said.

She promised to outlaw gun trafficking, implement a high-capacity magazine ban, prevent convicted hate crime and domestic violence perpetrators from buying a gun, implement universal background checks, and remove gunmakers and dealers’ licenses if they break the law.
