Gillette is showing support for the LGBTQ community with an ad that features a transgender man shaving for the first time with support with his father.
The video stars Canadian artist Samson Bonkeabantu Brown, who posted on Facebook that he “was able to share an important milestone in every man’s life with my father.”
With the tagline “Whenever, wherever, however it happens – your first shave is special,” the ad, which is part of Gillette’s #MyBestSelf campaign, shows Brown with his father, getting coached on how to properly shave.
“I’m at the point in my manhood where I’m actually happy,” Brown said in the ad. “It’s not just myself transitioning, but everyone around me transitioning.”
Brown wrote on his Facebook, “I am confident that this ad will encourage many of my trans siblings and fill them with the knowledge that our existence in this world can be filled with the love and support we deserve.”
