Two people were trapped in the basket-like mechanized lift, which was dangling from a crane-like structure over the building’s roof and swinging uncontrollably at high speeds.

The building is Devon Tower, a 50-story, 844-foot high corporate office building and the tallest structure in the city.

Firefighters worked to gain control over the device controlling the lift.
