Trump reportedly plans to make a major announcement regarding the border on Thursday or Friday.
Before boarding Air Force One on Thursday morning, he told reporters of the impending announcement.
“President Trump says he will make a big announcement on immigration today or tomorrow. ‘We are going to do something really dramatic on our border.’ Says it will be his biggest statement before. But he has teased big statements before that haven’t been new at all,” NPR correspondent Tamara Keith tweeted.

He also referred to the southern border situation as “a national emergency,” according to CBS’ Mark Knoller.

The announcement could stem from the recent decision of a federal judge to block construction of a section of border wall that was already underway.
“Another activist Obama appointed judge has just ruled against us on a section of the Southern Wall that is already under construction. This is a ruling against Border Security and in favor of crime, drugs and human trafficking. We are asking for an expedited appeal!” he tweeted last week.

Trump also tweeted last week, “Much of the Wall being built at the Southern Border is a complete demolition and rebuilding of old and worthless barriers with a brand new Wall and footings. Problem is, the Haters say that is not a new Wall, but rather a renovation. Wrong, and we must build where most needed.”
“Also, tremendous work is being done on pure renovation – fixing existing Walls that are in bad condition and ineffective, and bringing them to a very high standard!” he added.
