Vice President Mike Pence will visit sailors aboard the Norfolk-based aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman on Tuesday, less than a week after his wife met with military spouses at Naval Station Norfolk.
The Office of the Vice President said Pence will tour the aircraft carrier and deliver remarks affirming the administration’s support for the armed forces. Later, Pence is scheduled to participate in a roundtable discussion with local business leaders about the U.S., Mexico, Canada trade agreement referred to as USMCA.
Pence was in Hampton Roads just a few months ago when he spoke to Coast Guardsmen in Portsmouth following the government shutdown that centered on securing funding for a wall along the Mexican border. The Coast Guard was the only branch of the military to not be paid during the shutdown.
Pence’s wife, Karen, was in Norfolk last week to deliver remarks to military spouses and deliver bags filled with items for them as part of a United Services Organization program.
