A homeless man allegedly broke into a village hall in south Florida and caused $500,000 worth of damage, including cutting himself and smearing the blood on an American flag.
Holdson Marcelin, 38, was arrested over the weekend, days after he allegedly broke into the Palmetto Bay Village Hall by throwing a garbage can against the front doors, causing them to open, according to an arrest report acquired by Local 10.
He also allegedly destroyed a TV and flipped office equipment and filing cabinets.
Police said Marcelin cut himself an smeared blood on the walls and an American flag before fleeing the hall, still dragging the flag.
The flag was recovered later, burned and still covered in blood.
Marcelin allegedly caused about $500,000 of damage in less than an hour, all caught on surveillance footage.
He was charged with burglary, criminal mischief, causing property damage and the public mutilation of a flag, according to online jail records.
