Federal prosecutors in Syracuse today said an immigrant living illegally outside Watertown, New York uploaded child pornography to Facebook last year.
Police today charged Anildar Roblero-Gomez, 25, with possessing multiple videos of child pornography. Prosecutors said Roblero-Gomez is a Mexican citizen who was living in Ellisburg in Jefferson County unlawfully.
According to the court papers, the New York State Police computer crimes unit in September 2018 received a report from Facebook that videos depicting child pornography had been uploaded to its servers.
Investigators said Roblero-Gomez uploaded the videos on a public Facebook profile using a fictitious name. Police traced the IP address to Roblero-Gomez, court papers said. In an interview with police, he admitted that it was his account and he had uploaded the videos, according to court documents.
U.S. District Court Magistrate Judge Therese Wiley Dancks ordered Roblero-Gomez to jail pending the outcome of the case.
