Veterans Day is this weekend, and there is no shortage of discounts available to show appreciation for all former and current U.S. military service members.
Veterans Day is on Sunday, Nov. 11, but is also observed on Monday, Nov. 12.
Here is a list of some of the many available discounts for retail and grocery, restaurant and entertainment/leisure.
Many discounts require proof of military service, so call ahead to verify or bring along your military ID.
RETAIL & GROCERY
Academy Sports: Presenting a military ID in store is all veterans and military personnel need to get 10 percent off on their order between Oct. 31 and Nov. 11. The discount is also redeemable online using a brief military status form, which will grant a one-time-use promo code.
BI-LO/Winn-Dixie/Harvey’s Supermarket: On Nov. 11, veterans and military personnel will receive an 11-percent discount on their eligible grocery purchases. Through their partnership with Folds of Honor, portions of profits will help fund educational scholarships for widows and children of fallen service members until Nov. 12.
Food Lion: On Nov. 12, all veterans, military personnel, and their families are eligible for a 10-percent discount by presenting valid military ID and MVP shopping card.
Home Depot: Veterans and military personnel are eligible for a 10-percent discount on Nov. 11. The discount is also available upon request every day of the year, though proof of military ID is required.
Lowes: Veterans and military personnel can enjoy a 10-percent discount each day after enrollment into Lowes’ Military Recognition Program. The program has resulted in nearly $1 billion in savings for veterans and military personnel over the past decade.
Publix: A veteran or military ID, or other proof of service, qualifies veterans and military personnel to receive a 10-percent discount on groceries on Nov. 11.
Sears/Kmart: An “Unsung Heroes” event during Nov. 8-12 will provide a 10-percent discount for veterans and military personnel, as well as other first responders and emergency personnel. Additionally, Veterans Day deals will be available until Nov. 12.
Target will be offering a 10-percent military discount for in-store and online purchases during Nov. 4-12. Interested veterans must first submit a brief online form and they will receive a single-use 10 percent off coupon to the provided email address.
Tractor Supply: A discount of 15 percent off an entire purchase is available for all military personnel who provide a valid military ID or other proof of service, and their dependents. The purchase must be made on Nov. 11, and the discount will apply to the entire purchase regardless of sale items.
Walgreens: Walgreens and Duane Reade stories will provide a 20-percent discount to veterans and military personnel, as well as their families, during Nov. 9-11. A military ID and Balance Rewards card is required for the discount.
FOOD/FREE MEALS
Applebee’s is continuing its annual tradition with a free full-size entrée to all veterans and military personnel on Nov. 11. It’s a part of their mission to “serve one million free meals to our neighborhood military heroes.” Eligible personnel will be able to select their free entry from an exclusive menu.
Chipotle: A buy-one-get-one offer is being offered veterans and military personnel who provide a military ID when they dine in on Nov. 11. The promotion is valid on burritos, bowls, salads and tacos.
Cracker Barrel: A free crafted coffee beverage and slice of Coca-Cola fudge cake are available to all veteran and military personnel. The promotion is valid on Nov. 11 at all locations.
Denny’s: A free build-your-own Grand Slam breakfast is being offered to veterans and military personnel who provide a military ID or DD214 form. The promotion is valid on Nov. 12 from 5 a.m. to noon.
Dunkin’ Donuts: Veteran and military personnel can receive a free donut on Nov. 11 when ordering in stores. The promotion is valid for one purchase of any choice of donut.
Famous Dave’s: On Nov. 11 and 12, veterans and military personnel can select a “two meat salute,” consisting of a free entree with choice of two meats and a side with muffin.
Golden Corral: Veterans and military personnel can attend a military appreciation night on Nov. 12 during 5-9 p.m., during which their entrée is free.
On The Border: Get a free Create-Your-Own Combo 2 Meal on Nov. 11 by showing a military ID or proof of service.
Red Lobster: All veterans and military personnel who provide a valid military ID or proof of service will receive a free appetizer or dessert. The promotion takes place Nov. 11 and Nov. 12
Ruby Tuesday: On Nov. 11, veterans and military personnel can receive one free appetizer up to $10 in value with proof of military ID.
ENTERTAINMENT/LEISURE
Carnival Cruise Lines: A Veterans Day promotion includes a $50 credit per stateroom, a free two-category upgrade, and 50-percent reduced deposits for any cruise booked during Nov. 5-12. Additionally, multiple staterooms can be booked with the same discounts and pricing.
Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum will provide all military personnel with free admission for them and up to three immediate family members. The promotion is valid during Nov. 10-12. Additionally, military personnel will be granted a 10 percent discount at the Circa, Museum Store, and Hatch Show Print Retail Store over the weekend.
Hyatt Hotels: For this Veterans Day, Hyatt Hotels introduced its first-ever veteran and military discount program as thanks to those who served and currently serve. Veterans and military personnel, as well as their immediate family members, are eligible for a 10-15 percent discount when using the offer code MILVET.
National Park Service: All visitors regardless of military status are provided free admission to any U.S. National Park on Nov. 11.
Red Roof Inn: Veterans and military personnel may receive the “Home for the Holidays Military Discount,” which gives a 20-percent discount on bookings placed between Nov. 1 and Dec. 31 for hotel stays until Feb. 28, 2019, using the promo code VP#623095.
Seaworld/Busch Gardens: Veterans and military personnel are eligible to receive discounts or free admission depending on the selected park. Ticket purchases must be made online to receive the discount, as they are not available at the parks.
Super 8: A 20-percent discount is provided to veterans, military personnel and their families when they book by Dec. 10 and complete their stay by Dec. 11 at a Super 8 or Wyndham hotel.
