Firearm manufacturers Ruger and Glock have thousands of loyal shooters who stand by their favorite handguns from each respective gun company. Both manufacturers have a large line of handguns that serve shooters well with concealed carry, home defense, competition or just plinking at the range. Given this diversity in handguns, the question is, which of these manufacturers is your favorite choice – Ruger or Glock?

Ruger makes a wide variety of handguns from small micro-sized .380 ACP pistols, to 1911s, to revolvers. Add in .22 long rifle handguns and it’s clear that Ruger offers more handgun choices for various platforms. Ruger has perfected the skills of making handguns a beautiful, one of a kind piece of art. They know how to use a combination of Cerakote colors, g10 grips, and laser engraving to turn an ordinary-looking handgun into a showpiece. They have everything from budget-priced handguns to high-end models to suit every type of American shooter. Ruger enjoys a long-standing reputation for functionally excellent firearms that perform outstandingly.

Glock produces handguns for duty. They lack in aesthetics and beauty, but specialize in durability and reliability. Used in many law enforcement and military agencies, Glock handguns are produced to function in all extreme conditions. Glock handguns are used for concealed carry, home defense, duty applications, competition and range shooting.

One advantage Glock enjoys is strong aftermarket support. Many companies specialize in Glock products, from custom parts and colors, grip stippling, holsters, sights and optics. Glock’s strong aftermarket supports allows their users to take a standard functioning Glock and create a one of a kind custom Glock to suit the shooter’s personal preferences.

Glock also offers a long-slide handgun line which is designed for competition shooting and home defense. The Glock “long-slide” models have barrel lengths in the range of 5.5-6 inches. Handguns of this size are very precise and accurate while offering low felt recoil due to the increased weight of the gun. It is very common to watch many shooters use a Glock “long-slide” handgun in shooting competitions.
