Pentagon names soldier killed in Iraq helicopter crash

The Defense Department this week announced the death of a soldier who was killed in a helicopter crash in Iraq.

Chief Warrant Officer 3 Taylor J. Galvin, 34, from Spokane, Washington, was supporting Operation Inherent Resolve and died Aug. 20, in Baghdad, Iraq, as a result of injuries after his helicopter crashed in Sinjar, Ninevah Province, Iraq.

Task & Purpose reported that he was on his ninth deployment.

The incident is being investigated.

Galvin was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (SOAR), out of Fort Campbell, Kentucky.
