This July Fourth was a real bang for a would-be carjacker in Texas who tried to steal a mother’s car with her two children inside – he ended up getting shot in the face.
Michelle Booker-Hicks said she was paying for gas at a Shell gas station on the 200 block of West Camp Wisdom Road, near Interstate 35, around 10 p.m. Wednesday when the suspect climbed inside her SUV and attempted to drive away with her two sons in the back seat.
Hicks jumped into the vehicle and told the suspect to stop, but he ignored her, Fox 13 reported.
She was able to get her gun from the glove compartment and shot the suspect in the face.
The car crashed into a telephone pole and the suspect, identified by police as 36-year-old Ricky Wright, was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries, according to police.

Wright was arrested at the scene and will likely face kidnapping and carjacking charges.
The children were not injured.
“I’m not a killer but I do believe in defending what’s mine. I hope that woke him up,” Hicks said.
No other details are available at this time.
Police said the investigation is ongoing.
