Many people find it easy to drop a gun in their pocket and head out for the day. The most common type of gun for pocket carry is .380 ACP due to the micro size and the light weight. Most micro-sized .380 ACP handguns weigh under 20 ounces fully loaded, so pocket carrying them is less burdensome, especially in the summer months. Given that, many gun makers create the smallest and lightest pistols to suit the pocket carry population.
I came up with what I feel are the best (and most popular) .380 handguns for pocket carry. These five handguns have a very good reputation for accuracy and reliability. Each company is reputable with a large following of people who trust their lives with these products. In most cases, these little .380 ACP handguns mimic the manufacturers’ larger models, so the function, trigger pull and shooting impressions feel comfortable and natural to the shooter.
The biggest problem with female carriers is concealing a handgun comfortably. Due to a women’s body style and fitted clothes, females find it challenging to find a gun and carry system that works for them. More often than not, they choose a micro .380 handgun to suit their needs. We have seen manufacturers cater to the growing concealed carry female population by producing lightweight pistols in colors like pink, yellow and purple. Let’s not kid ourselves: women take their self defense very seriously and a fashionable handgun to suit their protection and personality at the same time is a bonus. Try messing with mama bear’s cubs, and you will get the business end of a pink gun that will put you down like a sack of potatoes.
Also, many people want a small .380 ACP handgun as a back-up gun. In my travels, I have met hundreds of people who find that dropping a tiny pistol in the pocket (with a pocket holster) as a back-up gun is an normal as carrying their cell phone or wallet. I do this often, as well. Whether it is for primary carry or as a back-up gun, the micro .380 ACP handgun surely has its place in the concealed carry world.
