President Trump spoke to reporters Monday and made a stunning announcement – he’s ready to meet with Iran.
“I would certainly meet with Iran if they wanted to meet,” he said Monday. “I don’t know that they’re ready yet – they’re having a hard time right now.”
“I’m ready to meet at any time they want to. And I don’t do that from strength or weakness. I think it’s an appropriate thing to do,” Trump said.
When asked Monday if he would have any preconditions for a meeting with Iran, he offered none.
“No preconditions, no. They want to meet, I’ll meet. Any time they want,” Trump said. “It’s good for the country, good for them, good for us, and good for the world.”

“I ended the Iran deal. It was a ridiculous deal,” he said. “I do believe that they will probably end up wanting to meet.”
Last week, President Trump said he would be willing to make a “real deal” with Iran for a new nuclear agreement, Politico reported.
“If we could work something out that’s meaningful, not the waste of paper that the other deal was, I would certainly be willing to meet,” he said.
President Trump also said last week: “Iran is not the same country anymore, that I can say. And we’ll see what happens, but we’re ready to make a real deal, not the deal that was done by the previous administration which was a disaster.”
