The secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran told Al-Jazeera in a recent interview that Iran’s missile program is non-negotiable. His statement came after President Trump’s announcement that the U.S. was withdrawing from the Iran nuclear deal.
“Washington does not dare to attack Iran and the policy of sanctions is a failed policy,” Rear Admiral Ali Shamkhani told Al-Jazeera.
“Our missile program is non-negotiable and we will continue to develop our defense capabilities. We will continue to support Hamas, Islamic Jihad Movement and the Resistance Axis as a whole,” he added.
Shamkhani also talked about the situation with the civil war in Yemen, and how Iran is ready to hold talks with Saudi Arabia without preconditions.
He said that, while Yemen’s Ansarullah Movement welcomed Europe’s call for a ceasefire during the holy month of Ramadan, Saudi Arabia rejected it.
“Ansarallah movement agreed with the European plan for a ceasefire during the holy month of Ramadan, but Riyadh opposed the plan,” he said.
