Most shooters have their favorite handguns for certain purposes. Whether it’s for everyday carry, deep concealment, range practice, competition or a special model that completes a collection, we all have our preferences; given all of the choices out there, most people’s decisions will vary.
When we discuss “must have” handguns, we break them down into categories and from there, the sky is the limit. The categories, and preferences, I chose for this review are 1911’s, revolvers, favorite range handgun, everyday carry handgun and micro deep conceal handgun.
Ready, set, go – and the comments came soaring in from passionate gun lovers sharing their favorite handgun models. For most of us, discussing and even arguing about our choices is an energized dialogue that is often our favorite topic.
I feel that a 1911 handgun is essential in any gun enthusiast’s collection. A 1911 embodies beauty, history and accuracy all in one. I feature three of my favorites, but I refuse to argue which is best. That type of debate can get heated as tempers flare over one’s opinion of which is the best.
A quality revolver is also a “must have” in the collection. This discussion can be more civil. While passionate revolver lovers feel strongly about their choices, respect is typically given across the board.
The handgun categories that have the most different handgun choices are favorite range gun and everyday carry guns.
In today’s world, the amount of handgun choices out there is incredible, therefore the various models that represent one’s favorite or most trustworthy could be one of hundreds of companies and models. Here we have the old and weary Glock versus Smith & Wesson, or CZ versus Sig Sauer debate. I predict in 10 years from now, people will still be having that discussion.
I cheated with the last class of handguns and created a two-for-one category that includes a small micro deep conceal handgun and/or a suppressed .22 pistol. These handguns hold incredible value for various applications that most shooters will agree on, and appreciate why they fit well in a “must have” list.
Watch the video below and share with us your favorite handgun choice for each category mentioned.
