President Donald Trump spoke at the National Rifle Association Convention, specifically its Leadership Forum, in Dallas on Friday.

This was the third year in a row that Trump addressed the NRA’s annual Convention.

“We will protect your Second Amendment,” Trump told the crowd, which often broke into patriotic chants.

“Your Second Amendment rights are under siege. But they will never be under siege as long as I’m your President,” Trump said.

President Trump was the first sitting President to speak at the annual Convention in 2017 since Ronald Reagan in 1983.

In his 2017 speech, Trump said: “The eight-year assault on your Second Amendment freedoms has come to a crashing end. You have a true friend and champion in the White House. No longer will federal agencies be coming after law-abiding gun owners.”

The NRA-ILA’s annual Leadership Forum is a major political event. The media, entertainment industry and the country’s most influential Second Amendment leaders are expected to be in attendance.

The event is held at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in Dallas.

The President is a supporter of the NRA, which backed him during his 2016 Presidential campaign.

Trump has said that he will consider more comprehensive gun control measures following the Parkland high school shooting this past February.

There are multiple planned protests in the Dallas area that will coincide with the NRA Convention, ABC News reported.

Other speakers who will be in attendance include American gun rights lobbyist Wayne LaPierre; Chris Cox, chief lobbyist and principal political strategist for the Institute for Legislative Action; Texas Gov. Greg Abbott; Texas Sen. Ted Cruz; North Carolina Rep. Richard Hudson; Benghazi survivor Mark Geist; Dana Loesch, talk radio host, author and spokesperson for the National Rifle Association; founder of Turning Point USA, Charlie Kirk; social media personalities “Diamond and Silk;” and Nebraska Gov. Pete Ricketts.

NRA spokesperson Dana Loesch said, “Members are gonna be really excited to hear from the president. You all know just as well as anyone the work that legacy media has really put into driving a wedge between this president and law-abiding gun owners and the president, while he entertained ideas from the other side of the aisle and people who wanted to restrict Second Amendment natural rights he ultimately put his foot down and said that your Second Amendment is your Second Amendment.”
