NRA announces drive to recruit 100,000 new members in 100 days

National Rife Association (NRA)
April 16, 2018

The National Rifle Association wants to recruit 100,000 new members over the next 100 days via a membership drive.

“The NRA‘s strength is in our dedicated and politically savvy members. Over the next 100 days, we hope to welcome 100,000 new freedom-loving Americans to our ranks. The threat to our Second Amendment has never been greater,” Jason Brown, NRA media relations manager, said last week, the Washington Free Beacon reported.

In an effort to attract new members, the NRA has changed the price of membership dues from $40 to $30 for one year, from $100 to $85 for three years, and from $140 to $100 for five years. Lifetime membership dues decreased from $1,500 to $1,000.

Following the mass school shooting in Florida this past February, gun-control activists have been rallying nationwide calling for new bans on guns and harsher age restrictions for buying guns.

More than $3 million dollars was raised from the “March for Our Lives” gun-control rally and was donated to a nonprofit advocacy organization that will carry on those efforts.

To even the playing field, the NRA said the new memberships will help fund their own nonprofit to battle gun restrictions.

Florida and Vermont, while recanting their pro-gun stances, have passed two new extensive gun-control laws, some of which have been challenged by the NRA.

“The enemies of freedom are well-organized and well-funded, and it’s our responsibility to fight back. The Second Amendment needs you now more than ever.  Please join the NRA Family today,” Brown said.

The NRA is asking for social media support for the NRA 100K Challenge by posting links about the drive.
