Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein is apparently readying himself to be fired by President Trump.

Sources told NCB that Rosenstein has taken a “stoic” tone this past week as he comes under the President’s fire for green lighting the FBI’s raid on Trump’s personal lawyer’s office.

Rosenstein has repeated the phrase “Here I stand” in private conversations – referencing a famous Martin Luther quote, “Here I stand, I can do no other” – and has also apparently come to terms with his potential firing, sources told NBC.

Trump this week made Special Counsel Robert Mueller, who is conducting the Russia investigation, a target of his tweets, as the investigation has now led to the FBI raid of Michael Cohen’s office and home.

Trump tweeted on Wednesday that the “Fake & Corrupt Russia Investigation” is the cause for “bad blood with Russia,” and he said Mueller is “most conflicted of all (except Rosenstein who signed FISA & Comey letter).”

Rosenstein is overseeing Mueller’s investigation because Attorney General Jeff Sessions recused himself last March.

Rosenstein also wrote the memo that recommended former FBI Director James Comey be fired, which he was in May 2017.

However, it is also Rosenstein who gave the go-ahead to raid Cohen’s office.

The deputy attorney general took over the Russia investigation when Sessions recused himself, and he also appointed Mueller.
