Police in North Carolina are searching for a Fort Bragg soldier who was reported missing Sunday when he did not return to the Army post, Army and law enforcement officials said Tuesday.

Sgt. Carl Seeman, 25, was classified as absent without leave after he failed to report to his unit, said Sgt. Christopher Gallagher, a spokesman for Fort Bragg’s 82nd Airborne Division. Seeman is a cannon crewmember assigned to the division’s 2nd Brigade Combat Team. Since 2015, he has been stationed at Fort Bragg in Fayetteville, where he lives on post.

Fayetteville police located Seeman’s truck in a local Walmart parking lot with his cell phone inside, said Officer Asia Cannon, a spokeswoman for the police department. She said investigators had not found reason to suspect foul play in the soldier’s disappearance.

However, his mother, Jennifer Seeman, has written in social media posts that she has concerns something is amiss.

In public Facebook posts Tuesday, the soldier’s mother wrote she was “scared and worried” and vowed to “investigate until every last question has been answered.”

Seeman joined the Army just months after graduating in 2011 from Churchville-Chili High School in northern New York, the Democrat and Chronicle newspaper in Rochester reported. He has three younger siblings also serving in the military.

Seeman’s unit is scheduled to deploy in the coming days to Fort Polk in Louisiana, where it will participate in a training rotation at the Joint Readiness Training Center, according to an Army statement.
