Dramatic footage captured the moment an NYPD officer was hit by a Mercedes in Times Square after he tried blocking its path during a traffic stop on Saturday, NBC reported.

The car, which was allegedly doing “donuts,” or going in circles, and smoking up the intersection near Times Square around 11:45 p.m. was being stopped by an unidentified police officer who told the driver to get out of the vehicle.

The video shows the vehicle attempting to escape while the police officer stands in its path. The vehicle then drags the police officer as he holds on, until the car is able to flee down 42nd street.

The police officer and several others take off down the street to catch the vehicle but are unable to do so as it sideswipes several other vehicles.

The police officer was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital with minor leg injuries.

The driver of the Mercedes was able to escape. Police are now searching for the vehicle and the driver.
