Following Oprah Winfrey’s speech on Sunday night at the Golden Globe awards, two of Oprah’s close friends told CNN that Winfrey is “actively thinking” about running for president in 2020.

According to CNN’s sources, Winfrey’s friends have been pushing her to run for president for several months.

Prior to Winfrey being awarded the Cecil B. DeMille award Sunday night, host Seth Meyers joked that at the 2011 White House Correspondents’ Dinner, he said that Trump was not qualified to be president.

“Some have said that night convinced him to run. So, if that’s true, I just want to say: Oprah, you will never be president. You do not have what it takes. And Hanks. Where’s [Tom] Hanks? You will never be vice president. You are too mean and unrelatable. Now we just wait and see,” Meyers said during the awards show Sunday night.

Winfrey’s longtime partner Stedman Graham said that Oprah’s run for president is possible.

“It’s up to the people,” Stedman Graham told The Los Angeles Times. “She would absolutely do it.”

In October 2017, when Winfrey’s best friend, Gayle King, mentioned the idea of Winfrey running for president on “CBS This Morning,” Winfrey had said: “There will be no running for office of any kind for me.”

On Sunday night, actress Meryl Streep was on-board with an Oprah Winfrey presidential run.

“She launched a rocket tonight. I want her to run for president,” Streep told The Washington Post. “I don’t think she had any intention [of declaring]. But now she doesn’t have a choice.”
