A Kentucky veteran will be sitting with First Lady Melania Trump on Tuesday as a special guest as President Donald Trump delivers the State of the Union address.
Cpl. (Ret.) Matthew Bradford, who joined the Marine Corps just after high school, was seriously injured in 2007 when he stepped on an IED while deployed in Iraq. The explosion caused him to lose his sight and both of his legs.
After being treated for his injuries and going through physical therapy, Bradford became the first blind, double amputee to reenlist in the Marine Corps.
Bradford grew up in Winchester and graduated from the University of Kentucky.
Law enforcement officers, the founder of the Cajun Navy and the parents of two girls who were thought to have been killed by MS-13 in Long Island are also among the special guests to the address on Tuesday, which will start at 9 p.m.
