As 2017 is coming to a close, I like to reflect on the handguns that were offered throughout the year and create a compilation of those handguns. This year, I decided to focus on 9mm handguns that can be purchased for under $1,000.
Those who study the handgun market understand that creating a “Best Of” list can go in several directions. There are hundreds of choices, and attempting to scale the list down to the best 15 9mm handguns is a daunting task. There are a variety of attributes to consider. While the majority of reviewers consider a gun’s features most important, I value serious range time with the gun. A pistol that performs well at the range and offers the features that shooters are looking for is a great place to start.
I completely understand that a review like this is one man’s opinion. My experiences on the range and what I value in a pistol can and most likely are different than what other shooters value. We look at subcompact handguns for carry versus full-size handguns for competition, and we see a whole different spectrum of pistols for various purposes. I have experienced guns in the past where I could not hit my target as hard as I tried, yet my shooting partner was dead on with that same gun. That’s just how it goes sometimes.
With this review, I gave my best effort to choose the best guns based on my experiences. Coupling that with the fact that I review many handguns throughout the year allows me the opportunity to experience many models. So after thousands of rounds fired and many guns reviewed, I came up with my best 15 handguns for under $1,000.
