Denis Leary slams Matt Lauer as a ‘creepy, weaselly guy’

Don’t hold back or anything, Denis Leary: Tell us how you really feel about Matt Lauer.

Turns out uninhibited actor/comedian Leary thinks he was prescient about Lauer, and way before anyone else.

Lauer, 59, was ignominiously fired from his ruling perch on the Todayshow last week in the wake of a credible allegation of sexual misconduct by a female NBC colleague.

Leary, the star of Rescue Me, said on CBS’ The Talk on Thursday he was not surprised.

“Matt Lauer, I thought he was a creepy, douchey guy from the get-go,” Leary declared, finger waving, as he sat with the panel and the audience squealed and applauded.

Leary, 60, was so turned off by Lauer, he said, he boycotted him, preferring “the girls” on Today.

“I stopped being interviewed by him on the Today show about 10 years ago because he was so creepy,” Leary said. “I just got a weird, weaselly vibe from the guy, and I said to my publicist, I said, ‘I don’t want to be interviewed by him any longer.’ ”

But the biggest laugh Leary got was his reference to the button Lauer was reported to have under his desk at NBC that would allow him to lock his office door without getting up.

“I do think people deserve second chances,” Leary said, “But when you have a button under your desk to lock women into your office, you know what? Screw you!”

Wild applause.
