An off-duty police officer shot and killed two armed robbers while holding his child, The Independent reported.
Sgt. Rafael Souza walked into a pharmacy in Campo Limpo Paulista on Saturday with his wife and child when two armed robbers charged into the store, The Independent reported.
Jefferson Alves, 24, pointed his gun at Souza, who drew his pistol and fired at the two armed robbers.
Souza can be seen holding his child while firing at the two men, while his wife is taking cover in an aisle. Souza then can be seen in the security camera footage handing over his child to his wife.
Souza goes out of frame and shoots the other armed robber, identified as 22-year-old Italo Creato, The Independent reported.
Paramedics arrived on scene, but both men were pronounced dead on the scene.
Souza told officers that he fired at the armed robbers first because he believed they would fire at him after he identified himself as a police officer.
The incident is being investigated by police.
