A veteran death outside a VA medical center in Arizona is being investigated as a possible suicide, according to a report.
The death took place Friday morning outside the Carl T. Hayden VA Medical Center in Phoenix. It was reported as a “self-inflicted gunshot wound,” officials said, AZ Central reported. The veteran’s name has not been released.
The Carl T. Hayden VA Medical Center has in the past been ranked as one of the worst VA hospitals in the country.
A spokesman for the Phoenix VA Health Care System, Paul Coupaud, said the incident “happened outside the facility and was not done in sight of or around other people,” AZ Central reported.
