Military charities Boot Campaign and Fisher House Foundation are teaming up to provide free flights for veterans in need of major medical care that requires travel.
Veterans suffering from Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), chronic pain, addiction and insomnia will have access to the care that they need through Boot Campaign’s ReBOOT program and Fisher House Foundation’s Hero Miles program.
“Fisher Houses are built on partnerships. Alone, no one can provide everything our military, veterans and their families need,” said Dave Coker, President of Fisher House Foundation, according to a press release.
“My deepest thanks to the Boot Campaign’s ReBOOT program for all that you are doing. Together we can make the greatest impact,” Coker added.
The ReBOOT program provides funding for wellness treatment and physical recovery programs customized to the needs of every veteran. But many cannot afford to travel in order to receive their treatment.
The Hero Miles program will provide the necessary travel for veterans in ReBOOT. Made up of donated frequent flyer miles from individuals, the Hero Miles program has provided more than 63,000 airline tickets to veterans and their families since 2011.
“Thoughtful, committed partnerships fuel our mission to provide access to quality treatment and care,” said Shelly Kirkland, CEO of Boot Campaign. “We are honored to collaborate with passionate, like-minded leaders in the field, such as Fisher House Foundation, to further the success of ReBOOT.”
Without the common financial barriers, veterans will have full access to the treatment they need in order to fully recover from serious injuries incurred during their military service.
