For the first time in Marine Corps history, a woman is slated to graduate from the 13-week Infantry Officer Course Monday and become the first female infantry officer in the Marines, The Washington Post reported.

Three military officials told the paper that the female lieutenant, whose name is not yet known, had completed the final graded requirement – a three-week combat exercise at the Marine Corps’ training center in Twentynine Palms, California, on Wednesday.

The only thing that stands in the way of graduation is returning the equipment used in training and a few more administrative days, the paper reported.

According to the Post, the lieutenant would become the first to graduate of 36 females who have attempted the infantry officer course.

The Washington Post reported that about 25 percent of those who attempt the course “wash out” and didn’t make it through the course.

The Infantry Officer Course was first opened to women in an experimental stage in 2012, but it wasn’t until 2015 that former Defense Secretary Ash Carter announced that all combat positions would be open to women in the military.
