In this video, Norwegian soldiers from the Telemark Battalion demonstrate the effects of icy water on U.S. Marines from the Combined Arms Company in Rena, Norway.
While these U.S. Marines are jumping into freezing cold waters, you can hear others reminding those in the water to keep breathing.
As you can imagine, jumping into water that cold could cause the body to go into shock or suffer from hypothermia quickly.
The Norwegians are more accustomed to the cold weather training and had a good laugh at the American troops struggling through the exercise.
Though one hopes these Marines never have to go through something like this in a real scenario, it’s good to know they’ll be ready if this sort of situation arises.
