Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) are the primary opponents of ISIS fighting in Syria, made up of a variety of ethnic and religious groups including the Kurds, Arabs and ethnic Christian groups.
One of the people who took up arms against ISIS in Syria is Kevin Howard, known as “Christian,” an American from California who volunteered to fight for the SDF as a sniper, ABC News reported.
Howard fights for a Christian unit that works with the United States coalition in the fight against ISIS.
Howard said that he came to Syria because of all the attacks carried out in the U.S. and Europe that ISIS claimed credit for.
Howard carved the names of several cities where ISIS carried out attacks – including Manchester, San Bernardino, Orlando and Paris – on the bullets he fires, ABC News reported.
“What chance did they have, you know,” he asked. “None. So, [this is] justice for them.”
A number of people from the United States and Europe have volunteered to fight ISIS in Syria.
Last month, David Taylor, 25, a U.S. Marine veteran from Florida, was killed fighting ISIS in Raqqa, NBC News reported.
