A veteran was found dead outside a Texas VA hospital with a self-inflicted gunshot wound, local police reported Wednesday.
The veteran reportedly committed suicide outside the Thomas E. Creek VA Medical Center in Amarillo, Texas.
The Amarillo Police Department responded to the VA hospital after receiving a call for a man suffering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, a local ABC affiliate reported.
The man was discovered to be dead.
“Our deepest condolences are extended to friends and family of the veteran. We’re cooperating with local authorities on the investigation,” said Amarillo VA Public Affairs Officer Barbara Moore, according to the local ABC affiliate.
The veteran’s identity has not been released.
