An Ohio Veterans Affairs (VA) nursing assistant is charged with 28 counts of theft at the Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center, according to court records.
Jessica Lowery, 31, was indicted on Tuesday with 28 counts of theft and is scheduled for a June 26 arraignment in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court.
Beginning in November 2016, Lowery allegedly stole from 13 patients and coworkers, Cleveland.com reported.
Lowery reportedly stole $2,500 in cash, coupons to the medical center’s cafeteria, two $50 gift cards to a Cleveland restaurant, a necklace and a wedding band from the estate of one of the medical center’s patients, according to the report.
“We take the safety and security of our patients and staff very seriously and have a-no tolerance policy for theft,” VA spokeswoman Ashley Trimble told Cleveland.com.
