A National Guard Sergeant who works as a Corrections Officer is being charged after allegedly having sex with an inmate at the Edinburgh Correction Facility and becoming pregnant, FOX 59 reported.
Army Sgt. Heather Sinnett is being charged with “sexual misconduct with an inmate,” which is a Level 5 felony punishable by one to six years in prison, according to WISHTV.
Officials say that Bradley Gulledge is likely to be the father of Sinnett’s expected child.
The two met last year at the Edinburgh Correctional Facility, which is a minimum security work release program in Camp Atterbury, Indiana. As a Corrections Officer, Sinnett was in charge of escorting and supervising the inmates, according to reports.
Gulledge, who was serving an eight-year sentence for dealing meth, told police that the encounter occurred in a mop closet when Sinnett escorted him to get ice last October.
“People place great trust in people who oversee and supervise IDOC inmates and [any time] somebody betrays that trust or takes advantage of it for their own personal satisfaction… it is very serious,” said Deputy Prosecutor Alex Hamner, FOX 59 reported.
Sinnett told the National Guard that she became pregnant on December 12, 2016.
According to court documents, emails were uncovered that said she was waiting for Gulledge to get out of prison so they could care for their “baby.”
