A gruesome new execution and propaganda video was recently released by the Islamic State, showing the beheading of who appears to be an agent for the Russian Federal Security Service, Capt. Yevgeny Petrenko, according to a report from The Washington Post.

In the video, Petrenko says he was abandoned by his government and then asks that the Kremlin stop its campaign against Syria, according to the report.

“I was supposed to infiltrate the special services of the caliphate and the leadership of the caliphate,” he said. “One of my orders was to gain access to Omar al-Shishani or to his circle. But during this, I was discovered and arrested by the security services of the caliphate.”
