This video starts off somewhat emotionally. One of the UFC fighters enters a barracks aboard Quantico named for an officer killed in the line of duty. This officer, Travis Manion, also happened to be his first wrestling coach.
The fighter laments that although he did not wish to get emotional in front of the other fighters, he wanted to also show them how brave the man was and what he had given up for his country. After taking a moment to reflect on his sacrifice and loss, the fighters follow the Marines to the famous obstacle course, where they begin to get a quick demonstration of what it takes to complete it.
As any Marine will tell you, the obstacle course is no walk in the park. Movies and television seem to make it look so fluid and easy, and even the Marines themselves do as the glide across the obstacles, jumping from one right to the next.
The reality, however, is that the obstacle course, or “O course” as the Marines often refer to it, is an unforgiving beast when done over and over in succession. It can easily test the endurance of even the most fit athletes.
