A massive brawl involving up to 60 teenagers broke out at a Florida mall over the weekend. The incident was caught on video and has since gone viral on the internet.
The video shows a massive group of teenagers in a fight outside a Rue 21 clothing store inside Orange Park Mall.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office said five people were arrested, including three juveniles. A 20-year-old was taken into custody for trespassing and resisting a police officer without violence. A female juvenile was arrested for battery on a law enforcement officer and trespassing without warning. Three others were arrested but released to their parents.
The footage shows several people punching a girl that is sitting on a couch. Several other people are seen fighting in the background.
John Westbrook, the general manager at the Orange Park Mall, issued a statement about the incident:
The safety of our shoppers, retailers and employees is our top priority. We are working closely with the Clay County Sheriff’s Office as they investigate this incident.
The mother of one of the teens arrested, told Action News Jax that her daughter was at the mall to see a movie with her friends when another group of kids started bullying them. The mother says her child was the one being beaten on the couch.
“They were walking around the mall bullying my daughter and her friends,” the mother said. “My daughter and friends [were] minding their own business and the adult and the other girls starting picking on them and saying stuff … The adult spit in my daughter’s face.”
