The third phase of BUD/S is held on a little Island known as San Clemente, about 60 miles from Coronado, where the rest of their training has taken place. This last and final phase of BUD/S lasts seven weeks and is also known as the land warfare phase. Candidates will learn to hike, patrol, use demolitions and an array of other weapons, and use small unit tactics and land navigation in order to make them effective as individuals and in small teams, like they will operate in if and when they graduate.
Of course, because they are close to the end does not mean that they can slack off yet. There is still plenty of tough training to go before they graduate, but when they do, they will be accepted among the ranks of the Navy SEALs. Not only those on active duty, but to all that went before them and had the honor and pride that comes with wearing that gold trident.
