As of April 27, 2017, gun-controlled Chicago already has seen more than 1,000 shooting victims. This indicates that Chicago is likely going to see an amount similar to the 4,400 it had in 2016. Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s solution is to target Federal Firearm License holders.
On April 25, the violence was so profound that two people were killed and five others were wounded over a single hour. Numbers like that are not new to Chicago. On April 15, 29 people were shot, one fatally, during 18 hours that began at 2:30 a.m. on April 15.
On April 25, Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel (D) responded to the ceaseless gun violence by calling for even more gun control in the form of new regulations for Federal Firearm License holders (FFLs) in Chicago. His answer, as gun crimes continue to soar, is to seek out gun dealers who have already gone through the proper legal channels to get an FFL and who, because of that FFL, conduct a background check on every gun they sell.
This comes after the Mayor is facing pervasive criticism from law abiding city residents and irate Americans over the nonstop gun-related violence and murder rate in the city. Emanuel, who needed some quick thinking, came up with the plan, a senseless one at best, to go after the good guys.
