[UPDATE] 10:30 PM EST – There are now four reported injuries due to the explosion. The identity of the one individual killed has not yet been released.
An explosion was reported at the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant in Independence, MO on Tuesday. According to reports, one person was killed and another 3 were wounded after what is believed to be an accidental explosion. The three injured have been taken to the hospital for evaluation.

The Lake City Army Ammunition Plant is a U.S. government-owned facility that sits on 3,935 acres in Independence, Missouri that opened in 1940. In 2007, it was reported that the plant manufactures almost 1.4 billion rounds of ammunition annually.
