Modern Ranger battalions were first called upon in 1980. Company C, 1st Battalion (Ranger), 75th Infantry made their world-debut when they participated in the Iranian hostage rescue attempts. The groundwork for the special operations forces of today were laid during training and preparation for this operation. This single preliminary mission would determine the future landscape for all special operations forces.
Here, U.S. Army Rangers from 1st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, jump from 3rd Combat Aviation Brigade UH-60M Black Hawk and CH-47F Chinook helicopters during water insertion training off the coast of Tybee Island, Georgia. This stunning HD footage shows these Brave Rangers taking the plunge to prepare for future hostage rescue attempts.
