U.S. Marine Snipers are among the best shots in the world, which of course is a testament to the amount of training they receive. The USMC Sniper program is one of the toughest schools the U.S Military has to offer, and the training continues even for those that graduate.
In the following video, you will watch Marines training at a course called “Aerial Sniper” where snipers learn to shoot on an aerial platform. The course is particularly difficult because it requires shooting at a downward angle, as well as dealing with the downward draft of the helicopter rotors. Aerial Sniper is part of a much larger two week urban sniper course taught by Special Operations Training Group (SOTG).
In the video below you will see a scout sniper team, attached to elements of the 31st MEU, execute live fire training on ammo cans filled with green dye, allowing them to mark their target area against the color of the ocean.
“Every day I get behind my rifle, I learn something new about myself, and I learn something new about my weapon.” Says SGT. Seth Utsler, a Chief Scout Sniper. “When anyone looks to the scout snipers to take a shot, they’re not expecting a miss, they’re expecting 100% accuracy, all the time, every time.”
